62.2、SEGA MODEL 2


    MODEL2基板在猪头个人心目中是街机大型体感游戏的绝对王者!该基板同样是世嘉与MARTIN MARIETTA合作研发,被冠以“HI-END”基板之名,无论是硬件规格还是实际表现力,对比当时所有的其他厂商都有着压倒性的优势——当然,与此同时,其造价也是压倒性的。
    从硬件参数来看,MODEL2使用英特尔i960处理器主频是25Mhz,多边形处理能力从MODEL1的每秒18万提升到了30万,似乎并没有太大进步。但在MODEL1的平面描影技术基础上,加入了纹理贴图这一革命性的技术,从《VR战士》到《VR战士2》,从《VR赛车》到《梦游美国》,游戏画面的表现力可谓是一个质的飞跃。就算是现在,想起当初见到《梦游美国》的大魄力冲刺镜头和《世嘉拉力》的车底离地间隙特写,那种震惊与钦羡依然是记忆犹新。
    在这块基板上,世嘉无与伦比的制作力可谓是尽显无余:旗下的三大街机研发部门——AM1、AM2和AM3研个个都具备独当一面的实力,使得MODEL2的几乎每一个作品都可以称得上是同类型的代表。就算后来的MODEL3和LINDBERGH在游戏品质方面可以达到MODEL2的当期高度,但在作品种类和数量方面,依然无法再现MODEL2时期的辉煌。在MODEL2时代,世嘉一度占据了街机大型体感框体市场70%以上的份额,那个时代,是当之无愧的黄金时代。
   

    MODEL2基板有初版MODEL2、MODEL2A、MODEL2B、MODEL2C四个版本,还有部分游戏是MODEL2A/B通用,以下分类来看看。

    《梦游美国》,MODEL2的首发作品,名越稔洋开发,光吉猛修作曲,以佛罗里达州地通那大赛为题材。每秒30万多边形、60帧刷新率、带回力效果的方向盘、金属的档杆,40辆赛车同场追逐、壮观的翻车镜头、车体的破损效果、热血沸腾的音乐——与MODEL2基板本身一样,这就是个人心目中街机赛车游戏的王者!1995.4.1移植到SS,也是该主机首个MODEL2的移植作。虽然在多边形数目、帧数等方面与街机版相去甚远,整体移植度不到70%,也卖了60万以上

    《死亡坦克》,来自AM2研与MARTIN MARIETTA合作开发的驾驶仿真坦克的火爆射击游戏,以机枪和火炮为武器,可以切换三种视点,钢铁器械缓慢而厚重的临场感表现十分到位。

    《VR特警》,AM2研出品,当年就是3D光枪射击游戏的代名词。1995.11.24移植SS,卖了60万以上,是32位主机时代以来的首个、同时也是最畅销的光枪游戏

    《索尼克对战》,世嘉的招牌明星系列角色参与的卡通化3D对战。本作曾公布过移植给SS,但最终没有推出,在1996.12.21的圣诞大餐《VR战士对格斗之蛇》中有本作的角色登场。
   
Super GT 24h    1996.6   JALECO


    这是老牌街机厂商JALECO购买MODEL2之后开发的赛车游戏,场景会出现昼夜更替,素质还是体现了老厂不俗的制作实力。1998.5.28移植到SS,是SS上最后一款MODEL2移植作。

    《穿越火线》,世嘉与REAL 3-D合作开发的光枪射击游戏,框体类似《枪刃纽约》,而玩家将扮演敌后战士乘坐武装越野车冲破敌人的防线。REAL 3-D的前身就是MARTIN MARIETTA,合并到洛克希德·马丁公司后,改组为民用产品部门。

62.3、ST-V

    ST-V是SS主机的互换基板,其最大的特色就是不仅可以进行3D多边形运算,同时依然兼顾了传统的2D处理。在3D方面,世嘉的目标是超越MODEL1的水准;至于2D处理,则是具备凌驾于SYSTEM32的表现力——后者应该是当时为止机能最强的2D基板了。实际证明,ST-V确实是做到了这两点:在街机领域,它被称为MODEL1.5,有着《十项全能》、《VR战士KIDS》、《暴烈刑事》等3D名作,DATA EAST、SUNSOFT、ATLUS等厂商也纷纷把新的2D对战游戏从MVS基板提升到ST-V;而在家用机上,SS主机对于CPS2、MVS、TAITO_F3以及CAVE、PSIKYO等基板的移植度也是有口皆碑。
    但可惜的是,向来以街机为主要业务的世嘉已经有了MODEL2这样的主力基板,这才是世嘉的运作重点。在3D游戏方面ST-V达不到那样的表现力,也得不到足够的开发资源;2D方面,世嘉本身昔日引以为傲的活动块缩放技术已经被多边形处理所取代,至于纯2D游戏,向来就不是世嘉的长处,而CAPCOM、SNK、TAITO等大厂都有着自己的现役基板,KONAMI和NAMCO更是对手阵营的主要支持者,于是,ST-V就只能更多的依靠那些二三线的第三方厂商来发挥了。

Notes : The STV system is based on the Saturn Sega's home console with different control maps, and there were 2 versions, the Japanese one (most common) and the USA one, which wasnt very popular.
They each had their own bios's and would mostly only play their own regions cartridges, I have listed where possible the compatibilities of each game.
Odd stuff : The manufacturer of the American STV-Titan dedicated cabinets (which were plastic) was mainly a manufacturer of waste storage containers, molded plastic stuff and whatnot. Turned out prescient as that's pretty much how the market received them; as garbage cans.

活跃时间:1996-1999

    这是君临天下的王者基板MODEL2的接班人,同样由世嘉与洛克希德·马丁公司联合研发,着重强化了阴影描绘和纹理映射机能,其画面效果在当时可谓是惊为天人!这也是世嘉、乃至整个街机游戏历史上最为超越时代的一次演出。MODEL2的大部分名作都在MODEL3上推出了续篇,可惜由于价格昂贵,当时在国内只有一线城市才有可能在街机厅见到这些作品。

Notes : With Model 3, Sega decided to design a new system from the ground up. Again, going with the company that they had formed a good relationship with, now named Lockheed Martin's Real3D division (Martin Marietta had now merged with Lockheed to form Lockheed Martin and Real3D was created from the combined 3D graphics resources of MM and Lockheed's own). They were brought in to assist in developing the brand new graphics subsystem, which ended up being the twin Real3D/Pro-1000 chipset, stunningly powerful for their time.

   世嘉着力打造的王牌大作《VR战士3》,最终BOSS水银战士变形的特效甚至可以媲美大片《终结者2》,当时被玩家称为“花300日元看一下画面也值”。地形要素、侧闪、肢体动作强制中断等设计可谓是铃木裕追求真实格斗效果的极致体现。世嘉当时公布了本作移植SS的计划,在“圣诞大餐”《VR战士对格斗之蛇》中也加入了本作的部分要素,但最终还是未能实现
