The Game Developers Conference may have come and gone, but its memory lives on in the hearts and minds of us all. This year was an especially big year, as major publishers and famous developers took a bigger part in the show than ever before. Some awesome games were showcased that may change the face of gaming.

But which titles made an impact at the show and which were all talk to an empty room? IGN has taken a look at the audience attention status of the games of GDC utilizing our GameStats.com service and its GPM measure for gamer viewership (GPM means "Game Popularity Metric" in case you were wondering.)This is showing what the fair readers of IGN are interested in, measured in numbers untouched by hype or marketing influence. Keep in mind that the GPM is made of data from the past seven days, so we have waited for the furor over GDC to calm down to take a look at the impact that the show and the major titles made, as well as to compare how big the major games of GDC got in comparison to other hot titles in the news this week.

GDC 2007: Overall Outlook: GDC is usually a show light on titles and big on technologies that will some day be found in titles, but this year was a big one for catching a glimpse of the biggest games of the year. Sony's PS3 had two huge exclusive surprises with LittleBigPlanet and Home, boosting interest with gamers who are looking for a reason to invest in the console. Microsoft meanwhile aggressively went after the section of gamers that the Xbox never really catered to: the RPGers. Both Mass Effect and Fable 2 had huge showings…especially with fans of virtual guard dogs. Finally, Nintendo proved the lasting power of plumbers. because both Super Paper Mario and Super Mario Galaxy reassured Wii owners of the Big N's support. And although PC had less dominance than it had in years past, games like Crysis made console gamers weep over what an engine of such magnitude could do with the right amount of horsepower. This unfortunately wasn't a show for surprises and break-out indies, but GDC 2007 was an important game show at a critical juncture in gaming history.
