According to forum posts by Meizu CEO Jack Wong, the new M9 will come with a custom interface running on top of Android 2.2. He also talked about M8FE and M8RE to M9 replacement program but it is currently unclear how it would work and if international users could apply for the price discount. JW announced all Android software should work on the M9, except a few games which require a trackball. The M9 will have a different WLAN module than the M8 and it's now also confirmed the screen resolution will be 960x640.
Release date is still planned for October.

根据魅族老板黄章在论坛上的帖子，魅族将运行有定制UI的Android 2.2系统，他同时宣称魅族M8FE和M8RE折价更换M9计划，但是目前未知该计划运作方式和是否会惠及外国用户。处理少量需要用到轨迹球的游戏外，黄章说，几乎所有的Android软件皆可运行在M9上。M9的Wifi将与M8有所不同，其屏幕将达到960x640像素。
目前仍然以十月的某天份为首发日而准备中。

regarding to 3G, yes but WCDMA only(it will support HSDPA i guess).
correct me if i am wrong.

So it's a lot of stuff we already knew... except for the M8SE replacement program. I thought it was only going to be the test versions of the M8.
The UI looks the goods for sure, though. Who would have thought a car windscreen would be such a good wallpaper!

Yeah but what is pretty big discount??? I bought my M8 over some dealer and I paid 367 eur for it (FE - glass 8GB black) and I think it is a lot of money. if the discount will be more than 40%, I WILL BUY IT!

wow 367 euros is much I've payd 310$ with shipping.About shipping, so again - meizu m8 was not meant to be supported internationally and so for sending. By the way, I'am living in Lithuania ( nera westert Russias borders) and shipping via EMS costed 15$, so it is not so much. For exact discount, no one is sure yet, just WAIT

i remembered some days ago JW mentioned the replacement prices, for FE with the warrent card, it will work like this,
1. order the M9 online with full price, at the same time your replacement request will be push into a queue.
2. when your request popped from the queue, meizu will let you know and ask for your M8FE(RE)
3. once meizu got your phone, it will refund around rmb1000(roughly 147usd, note RE got a lower discount) back to you.
4. meizu will destroy the m8 returned and sell the parts to recycle companies.
JW also said he couldnot do the replacement simply like sending m8+extra to meizu and sending m9 to customer because there are a couple of 100-thousands FEs sold already. worrying about meizu's cash flow, he is thinking to make a request queue and control the amount of replacement each month.above is only for your interests. so, for the FE, the discount could be about usd 147, for the RE it would be less.

关于折扣的事儿，我记得黄章几天前说过，以FE版为例，如果有预约卡（warrent card）的话，大概是这样的：
1.在网上全价需购买，但是同时你的折扣要求会加入排队。
2.如果你的要求按队列被轮到了，魅族会通知你和收回你的M8FE（RE）。
3.一旦收到了你的旧机器，他们就返还你大约1000RMB（大概147美元，注意RE版的
折扣价会低一点）。
4.魅族会销毁收回的M8再把遗体卖给废品回收公司。
黄章还说基于现金流的考虑，魅族不会采用简单的你寄给我M8我寄给你M9的商业模式，毕竟已经有一百多万台M8正在服役中，公司必须通过排队的方式来控制每个月的旧机器回收量。

I don't think we're gonna get a discount for giving back our M8 if we do that directly. We should do that through our dealer but...will he do that?guys, we'd better start to organize a future M9 trip to China!

M9 - Android 2.2...its op. system will NOT work on the M8Android on M8 - I really don't think that Meizu will release an official version of Android for the M8 but, thanks to some great private teams (LBE and SEPA) we're reaching the goal of having Android working on M8.1.0 - GOT LOST!...but, hey, let's be realistic, do you really need a 1.0 FW? what will the difference be? the FW that we have now are great and just really small improvements can be done, so...be happy with your 0.9.9.17 or so and, if you want, try out the new A9 Android release, which is a really great improvement!

so with this info, I really get the feeling that the M8 was really a test-unit and we all were testers who payed for it.
Now JW offering us to return the test-unit and we get a discount for the M9. That was a very clever move of meizu, to let people pay for testing their first mobile

when the m8 was first announced it was aimed at the international market but as soon as legal issues come about with copyright meizu dropped going to international conventions and stopped international promotion. meizu still acknowledge international users or they would not have a english version of their website or have english language option on their products.hope that the m9 is released in october as promised

I was glad to see that in the engadget thread there was surprisingly little hate! and this is engadget users we're talking about, they(we) hate on EVERYTHING... Meizu certainly made a name for itself, and it seems the whole "iphone" copy thing is lived down a bit now that most smartphones have a pretty uniform look.

Sbamba I am from Italy too. You have to know that we don't know if Meizu decides to sell the M9 in Europe. If not you have to buy it directly in China.

My M8SE is not even 1 year old, but I would immediately buy the M9 if it looks like that! And I agree with Loonix, the M that gets illuminated after unlocking the screen will surely look good!
Just a question: Do you guys know if it's true that the M9 will come from the beginning equipped with the Retina screen? It's a new bthat circulates throught the web...

I don't think that the Meizu M9 and Galaxy S are so extremely alike... The M9 is more alike the iPhone 4 than the Samsung.

my main reason for keeping my m8 and not changing it for anything is because of its superb sound quality and superb speakers ! j.wong should simply take them out of the m8 and put them on the m9 ! its as simple as that ! don't you fix what isn't broken mr. !

Yeah sound quality is far better then iPhone 3Gs, especially when using with audio systems even my pc cant afford such a quality as meizu do without any apps :D

比iPhone3Gs的音质好多了，特别是配上一个好耳机的时候，光裸听的话，我的PC都

I think JW did not do his homework!
How are they going to prevent us to run an original Android?
With a Efuse system like on the motorola droid? By not releasing the driver source code? That´s no problem at all you know, we will find a way into it like we did on the serial port on the m8, this by first rooting the M9 ;-)we can all just hope it will work flawlessly outside China
It will depend if it will have a GSM unit in to it :-)

Europe use the same GSM bands as China so calling and SMS-ing wouldn't be (in theory) a problem
