前段时间的传闻，《侏罗纪世界（侏罗纪公园4）》的主角们所要面对的主要敌人将是一头或数头异形恐龙，其经过科学家的DNA杂交重置后，匪夷所思拥有霸王龙、巨蟒、墨鱼的特点和极度凶残的本性，其危险程度将远远超过123部前作的出现过的恐龙。

《侏罗纪世界》的剧本由《猩球崛起》的两位主力编剧里克·杰法和阿曼达·斯尔沃完成。
原本斯皮尔伯格是请《侏罗纪公园》原著作者迈克尔·克莱顿编写本作剧本，但十分遗憾的是克莱顿在2008年患癌症去世。
