作者: hudihutian    时间: 2013-11-19 17:03     标题: 本田发布三款新地球梦发动机,VTEC TURBO

After a brief period of dabbling with a 2.3 litre turbocharged i-VTEC engine in the Acura RDX, Honda has now announced a new range of turbocharged engines under the brand name VTEC TURBO, as part of its Earth Dreams Technology range.

The smallest engine is a turbocharged 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine with variable valve management and direct-injection. Next up the rung is a turbocharged 1.5 litre four-cylinder engine, also with variable valve management and direct-injection. No specific horsepower or torque output has been released for now.

The most interesting engine is the new turbocharged 2.0 litre four-cylinder direct-injection engine, which will make its debut in the new Honda Civic Type R. Honda says the engine will produce over 280 hp and will be Euro 6 emissions-compliant. No torque figure has been mentioned yet.

Of course, other than the i-VTEC turbo in the RDX, Honda has always made turbocharged 660 cc engines for Japanese domestic market cars such as the Honda N-ONE. Nearly every Japanese manufacturer uses them in their JDM K-cars. But these new engines represent a new family that will go into global models.

Honda may be relatively late to the game compared to European manufacturers but who knows, perhaps they took time to inject some Japanese reliability into this engine family.

Honda announced three new direct-injected and turbocharged engines, plus an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with the interesting addition of a torque converter, during a two-day media event before the Tokyo Motor Show that opens Wednesday. Each of the engines, along with the new transmission, were available for reporters to drive in prototype vehicles, interspersed with presentations on a variety of other technology initiatives.
Honda showed off its array of new technologies during a two-day media event that traveled from Honda's headquarters in Tokyo to the company's R&D center and Proving Ground at Tochigi.

2.0 turbo for Type R
Of the three engines, Honda engineers seemed most excited about the direct-injected 2.0-liter turbo four, which the company says will produce at least 280 horsepower.
That's the engine that will power the upcoming 2015 Honda Civic Type R, which the company hopes will set a new Nürburgring lap record for a front-wheel-drive production car.

Smaller three and four
There are also a pair of smaller engines: a 1.5-liter four and a 1.0-liter three, which combine Honda's longstanding VTEC variable valve technology with direct injection and turbocharging to produce higher power and torque than comparable naturally aspirated engines of the same size.

Honda says the two will produce "excellent fuel economy," which is really their primary purpose--to replace larger, heavier engines of the same output. But given the variance between real-world gas mileage and the EPA testing results on Ford's growing line of EcoBoost engines, it may be wise to wait and see how they behave in customers' hands before taking Honda's fuel-efficiency claims at face value.
DCT with a plus
The company also announced an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) for transverse installations, which it intends to use in larger and higher-performance models in the Acura range and the upper ends of the Honda lineup.
But Honda has added an interesting fillip to the increasingly common DCT technology: a torque converter like that in a conventional automatic to smooth takeoff and low-speed downshifts, the points at which regular DCTs become jerky as they must slip their clutches to mimic the behavior of an automatic.

A brief lap of the Honda high-speed circuit in a 2013 Accord sedan equipped with the new 8-speed DCT with torque converter showed it to perform about as claimed.
Under power, accelerating up to highway speeds (and beyond), the feel was that of a DCT: fast sequential shifts.
But during a slow rollout from stop, the torque converter absorbed any surging or irregularity in torque delivery to the wheels in a way that few conventional DCTs have so far.

New technologies
The new components follow a somewhat quiet period on that front for Honda, which had announced few new technologies of late except for the launch of its new two-motor hybrid system, now on sale in the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid.
As for the biannual auto show itself, it opens to the media on Wednesday.
See our Tokyo Motor Show index page for all the latest details on the cars, concepts, and technologies in and around the event.

Honda has introduced a new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to replace its ageing five-speed auto and complement its range of continuously variable transmissions (CVT).
Unlike conventional dual-clutch transmissions, Honda’s eight speed DCT employs a torque converter for a smoother shift and a more regular automatic feel at low speeds and take off.
Strangely, the eight-speed DCT can only handle around 270Nm of torque, which rules it out for the company’s 3.5-litre V6 and the recently announced 2.0-litre turbo engine.
It will, however, theoretically work with the 1.5-litre turbo and the regular 2.4-litre naturally aspirated models.
CarAdvice was given the opportunity to drive an Accord equipped with a 2.4-litre engine and the eight-speed DCT at Honda’s research and development centre in Tochigi, Japan.
Although Honda insists that CVT will be its core transmission going forward, the introduction of the eight-speed DCT is a sign that the Japanese car maker understands the need for more exciting transmissions going forward.

Around Tochigi’s 4km test circuit we came to appreciate the genius of a torque-converter inside a dual-clutch system; the combination all but eliminating the jerkiness experienced at low speeds with regular DCT systems while also providing rapid-fire gearshifts at full throttle.
We stopped and suddenly accelerated, hesitated on acceleration to try to get the system to react negatively, but it performed without fault. We even took it flat out up to 200km/h and felt every gear engage without hesitation or the slightest delay.

The only issue, which was entirely a prototype-only characteristic, was the steering wheel-mounted paddleshifters, which basically ignored all commands.
Honda will debut the eight-speed DCT in a vehicle with a 2.4-litre engine, potentially the Accord, CR-V orOdyssey. The Japanese company would not confirm any details regarding timing for the introduction of its new transmission.
