没想到美国一大早就公布了2009年度第61届艾美奖Emmys提名名单，惊喜也不算多，《恶搞之家 Family Guy》成为自1961年以来首次被提名最佳喜剧类剧集的动画片，和其它六部由真人出演的剧集一起竞争此项大奖。在喜剧类别，NBC电视台的《我为喜剧狂 30 Rock》继续以22项提名领衔，在剧情类别，AMC电视台的《广告狂人 Mad Men》以16项提名领衔，在电视电影类别，Drew Barymore的《Grey Gardens》以17项提名领衔。

风光无限的HBO电视台的《真爱如血 True Blood》却没有拿下任何主要奖项的提名，但是HBO总共拿下了99个奖项提名，在国内很受欢迎的喜剧《生活大爆炸 The Big Bang Theory》中饰演男主角Sheldon的男星Jim Parsons拿下了喜剧类最佳男主角的提名(顺便发现这个老妖怪居然已经36岁高龄)，《超感神探 The Mentalist》的男主角Simon Baker也被提名。

2009年度第61届艾美奖Emmys颁奖典礼将于北京时间9月21日在洛杉矶诺基亚剧院举行，《老爸老妈的浪漫史 How I Met Your Mother》男星Neil Patrick Harris将主持今年颁奖典礼。
