A film adaptation of the video game Halo was set up at Fox some time ago. Less than a year after they had planned to co-produce the film with Universal, the deal fell apart. Well, according to Variety, 20th Century Fox has signed a new deal, making it once again the primary license holder for the Halo franchise.
This means that Fox has the worldwide merchandising rights to the video game on behalf of Microsoft, the company that created the property. Fox plans on launching a wide array of new Halo merchandise. In the works are books, clothing, collectables, and action figures. The merchandise will appear in conjunction with the Halo 3 video game that is being released this September.
There is no set date on when the film will go into production, but speculation sees the Halo 4 video game hitting shelves before that happens.
